Aratos Technologies S.A. is proud to announce that the H2020 project “ECOPOTENTIAL: Improving Future Ecosystem Benefits Through Earth Observations” coordinated by Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) has reached the final stage of preparations for the Grant Agreement. The project begins officialy in June, 1st.
ECOPOTENTIAL is expected to make significant progress beyond the state-of-the-art and create a new unified framework for ecosystem studies and management of protected areas (PA), focusing on
internationally recognized PAs in Europe and beyond. Amongst its future outcomes we distinguish the new modelling approaches including information from EO data that will be developed, the ecosystem services in current and future conditions that will be assessed and the requirements of future protected areas that will be defined, along with open and interoperable access to data and knowledge that will be assured by a GEO Ecosystem Virtual Laboratory Platform, fully integrated in GEOSS.
ARATOS will contribute in EO and data services activities regarding the development and validation of a pre-operational, multi-modular system and the creation of a new, open access, smart and user-friendly geospatial data and product retrieval service. Moreover, ARATOS will contribute in developing the data interoperability framework for the virtual GEO Ecosystem laboratories and archives that will constitute the ECOPOTENTIAL Virtual Laboratory Platform.
